On 4th of August BTG Phillippines organized the local mPreneur event in Mnaila and gathered 53 participants in total composed of youth & youth workers age 17-41 years old. Majority of the participants were students from Technological University of the Philippines (TUP) – Manila, Bataan Peninsula State University (BPSU) Main Campus and Lyceum of the Philippines University – Batangas. BTG’s partner organizations joined the event, such as: TUP-CITE (Center for Innovation & Technology Entrepreneurship) and TUP-GAD (Gender & Development) and BTG’s partner student organizations: TUP-UIC (University Integrity Crusaders) and BPSU[1]CICT (College of Information& Communication Technology) Wizards, among others. Also present are the team members of mPreneur Philippines National Camp Winner, Balarila PH and mPreneur Philippines National Camp and Asia Continental Winner, Sakahon PH.

During this whole day event, first mPreneur project was presented, along with the mPreneur promotional videos from the mPreneur National School in Ohrid, North Macedonia and WSA’s European Young Innovators Festival in Graz, Austria and where the mPreneur national winners had their presentations. Afterwards, the event continued with a workshop on Design Thinking which is very important in Social Entrepreneurship as it allows social entrepreneurs and organizations to gain deeper understanding of social problems, unlocking innovative ideas and ultimately, creating better outcomes for organizations and the people they serve. The workshop was facilitated by the invited experts: Engr. Kevin Facun, Ms. Ma. Cristina Viñas, and Mr. George Ivan Bautista (see their profiles in annex). After the program proper, the participants stayed for a networking merienda (afternoon snacks). Prior to the event, BTG Philippines had several meetings with various stakeholders such as universities, LGUs, youth & student organizations, and start-up incubators.

Both Sakahon PH and Balarila PH attended the event and both of them had a presentation about their start-ups and shared their experiences and learnings from mPreneur school in Ohrid and EYI in Graz and how mPreneur changed them as private individuals and entrepreneurs and how it brought positive changes to their businesses.
